Remember this mnemonic about the planets in order
Fun fact: did you know the mnemonic meaning? Mnemonic is from the ancient greek word μνημονικός (mnēmonikos) which means “of memory”. It is a learning technique, that helps remembering scientific facts.
So what is that magic mnemonic for the solar system you ask? It is “My very educated mother just served us nachos.” Take the beginning of every word and you can easily remember the planets in order to the sun: My stands for mercury, very is for venus, educated is the earth, mother is the mars, just is jupiter, served is saturn, us is uranus and nachos is neptune.
But what about Pluto? Is Pluto a planet or not? Since 2006 Pluto isn’t considered a planet anymore, because there is no cleared neighbourhood around its orbit. That’s why it doesn’t meet the International Astronomical Union’s planetary criteria at the moment. But this might change in the future.

A few background thoughts on my illustrations
Every week on Friday I post new ideas for you – from kids room décor (poster and more) to free crafts and fun educational videos.
This way I hope to inspire you and I give you all this content for free. I draw all of my illustrations on my iPad Pro in ProCreate – this way my illustrations are unique.
So I thought recently: what else can I do with those sweet hand-made illustrations? Well for one I could use them in surface design. I’ve started a fabric store with all of my designs on Spoonflower.
More are coming up soon – I plan to make a Jungle Jive collection – inspired by the tropical world with an alligator, hippo and toucan. Linocut is another hobby of mine. I plan to integrate linocut stamps into my first collection, too. Fingers crossed, that I manage to finish my first collection after our big summer holidays.
